Prior to the first World War, René Mélier was an avid distiller of cognac and would create various small-batch blends for himself and his family. It was not until serving in the Great War, René would come to form Maison Mélier. Beginning in 1928, the Mélier house was always a family affair. The operation was passed down from father-to-son not just once, but twice, with each generation leaving its own distinct style.
Today, Maison Mélier is owned by the Mayo Family. As an established American agricultural family, we understand René’s passion for his craft, the environment which allowed him to prosper in it, and the desire to leave a lasting legacy to those who come after us.
